Welcome to the Palm Avenue Community Fundraiser Event

June 11th - June 25th 2025

This 2-week neighborhood fundraiser supports restoring the Okihi Project. Every donation, big or small, moves us closer to our goal. Let's show what our community can do when we come together!

Take the Grand Tour of the Okihi property. This is what you are helping build!

About the Okihi Project

The Okihi Project is a 14-acre riverside oasis dedicated to outdoor education and wellness, located just across the river from Hart Park and CALM, Bakersfield's beloved local zoo. Operated by the White Wolf Wellness Foundation, Okihi serves as a vibrant learning environment where children can unplug, explore, and connect with nature. We've proudly partnered with several Kern County school districts to bring students out for immersive, hands-on educational experiences that support social-emotional growth, environmental stewardship, and real-world learning. With every visit, Okihi is helping shape healthier, more connected communities—one school group at a time.

Hello, Palm Ave Neighbors!

This is my street too — and that’s exactly why this fundraiser is happening right here in our own neighborhood. Many of you I know personally as kind, generous neighbors, and now I’m reaching out for your help.

Okihi, our local outdoor education center, is in need of support. While there are many great causes out there, Okihi is something truly special — a local gem that serves kids and the community with nature-based education and wellness programs. Think of us as Camp KEEP’em Local!

Please consider making a donation over the next two weeks. If you have any questions or just want to chat, I’m only a few houses away!
— Darron Nilsson, Director of Donor Relation, Okihi
I am so happy to hear that Camp Okihi is being revitalized. I was lucky to have been a part of Girl Scouts when Okihi was in its prime 30 years ago! I SUPPORT THIS FUNDRAISER with all my heart and soul. Let’s go Palm Avenue!
— Kylee Hogue - Palm Ave Resident
I remember with fondness my first experience with Okihi. I was just 10 years old and this was the place I got to go for my very first camp out experience. Okihi will always have a special place in my heart. I will absolutely be making a donation.
— Micah - Palm Ave Resident
